DODOMA: THE Tanzania Railways Corporation (TRC) has to officially begin cargo transportation services between Dar es Salaam and Dodoma after completing trial runs and getting approval from the Land Transport Regulatory Authority (LATRA).

The announcement was made today in Dodoma by Enock Mgonja, the TRC’s Manager for Passenger and Freight Wagon Maintenance, shortly before a freight train began its return journey to Dar es Salaam. The journey marks the second in a series of trial operations, the first having run from Dar es Salaam to Dodoma.

Meanwhile, TRC Senior Transport Officer Masha Twaha stated that the stations designated for cargo operations along the route will include Pugu, Morogoro, and Ihumwa.

TRC noted that the official start date for cargo services on the Dar es Salaam–Dodoma route will be announced soon. The corporation added that this initiative is part of a broader strategy to strengthen railway transport and improve the efficiency of goods movement within the country.
