DAR ES SALAAM: THE Tanzania Trade Development Authority (TanTrade) has announced that the upcoming 49th Dar es Salaam International Trade Fair (DITF) is set to significantly expand the global perspective and business acumen of local traders.

According to TanTrade’s Senior Trade Officer, Mr Mohamed Nyasama, the participation of approximately 30 countries in this year’s event will not only generate foreign exchange but also provide Tanzanian entrepreneurs with invaluable exposure and learning opportunities.

“We anticipate substantial foreign currency inflows from participating countries. More importantly, their presence will bring crucial knowledge and insights that can inspire local traders and ignite their ambition to engage in international trade,” said Mr Nyasama.

He noted that for many small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), this will be their first opportunity to interact directly with international markets and gain practical business insights that could transform their operations.

“For a local trader, attending DITF could be a pivotal moment in their business journey. They will gain new perspectives and a deeper understanding of global trade dynamics potentially marking the start of grooming future top-tier business leaders from Tanzania,” he added.

Mr Nyasama emphasised that TanTrade is leveraging the fair as a platform to nurture the next generation of world-class entrepreneurs through knowledge exchange, networking opportunities and exposure to global best practices.

He stressed that the event is more than a commercial exhibition, it’s a launch pad for local businesses to expand and position themselves in international markets.

Meanwhile, TanTrade Director General, Ms Latifa Khamis, reported that preparations for the event are progressing smoothly, including infrastructure development, booth allocation and overall site enhancements such as painting and improved accessibility.

“We’ve made great progress to ensure the venue is ready to accommodate both local and international exhibitors. Infrastructure work is on track and registration is well underway,” said Ms Khamis.

She urged potential participants to register early to avoid last-minute delays, emphasising that early registration ensures a smoother process. Ms Khamis also highlighted improvements in the booth allocation system.
